R2 is a most versatile sub-satellite-system which we designed as a second reference implementation for our spk-R technology.
The subs measure 35/35/35 cm and can be placed on the floor. The sat-speakers measure 32/11/20 cm. They can be placed on a bookshelf or a TV shelf or be attached to the wall. The system has been created for a most uncolored, natural reproduction of voices and acoustic music instruments but will perform superbly with all styles of music. Due to a low crossover frequency of 440 Hz, the bass-cubes integrate seamlessly with the satellites. |

The membrane R1 is a form laminated composite of a 0.005mm thick aluminium ribbon between two 0.004 mm thick highly resilient polyethylene (BOPET) foils.
The membrane is 25 mm wide and 32 cm high, its area corresponds to a 3 inch (8 cm) cone speaker. Despite its size, ist moving mass is less than half a gram. A huge membrane area, together with high mechanical displacement (Xmax) and low weight, allow for high sound pressure levels (SPL) and low distortion over the whole frequency range. |

The sattelite-part is made of two laser cut sideplates of 15 mm thickness, which together, with strong neodymium magnets on both sides, form a strong motor for the electrically conductive ribbon. The sound of R2 is characterized by very low harmonic distortion, the avoidance of acoustic phase shifts, and excellent transient response both on low and high volume. -> continue reading -> technology |
