R1 is a speaker system with exceptional performance in the natural reproduction of sounds and music. It is our first reference that shows the capabilities of our spk-R technology.
R1 is a foor-standing active speaker system with a height of 1,80 m and a weight of about 80 kg. The upper part is an acoustic linesource and covers the frequency range from 200 Hz to the upper limit of hearing. The base contains three bass speakers to match the lower registers. The idea of this type of speaker defined the need for a durable and mechanically highly resilient membrane material. It thus became the starting point for the development of our technology. |

The membrane R1 is a form laminated composite of a 0.005 mm thick aluminium ribbon between two 0.006 mm thick highly resilient polyethylene (BOPET) foils.
The membrane is 25 mm wide and 170 cm high and has an extremely low moving mass of less than 2 grams. Its area corresponds to a 10 inch (24 cm) cone speaker. A huge membrane area, together with high mechanical displacement (Xmax) and low weight, allow for high sound pressure levels (SPL) and low distortion over the whole frequency range. |

The base is made of three carbon reinforced concrete modules. Each one contains a high excusion 8 inch woofer. Together with the floor these modules form a pressure chamber to deliver a strong and precise bass foundation. |

The upper part of the speaker is made of a pipe of structural steel. Together with strong neodymium magnets on both sides of the gap it forms a huge horse shoe magnet. Electrical signals applied to the Ribbon are directly translated into movements and soundwaves, without any further electrical or mechanical transformation. The sound is characterized by very low harmonic distortion, the absence of acoustic phase shifts and excellent transient response, and offers a stress-free and highly immersive listening experience -> continue reading -> R2-Speaker |
